On Saturday 20th February at 11am we are participating in a Fix the Food Chain action outside Waitrose on Marylebone High Street where we will be getting members of the public to sign postcards asking their local MPs to support the campaign.   Afterwards at approximately 1pm we will have a short meeting in the least crowded nearby pub, if you wish to come to the meeting but not take part in the action, you can contact us on the day on 07830 315 204.  Please see our Fix the Food Chain page for details of the campaign.

National Climate March

Members of our group took part in the 2010 Climate March urging World leaders meeting in Copenhagen to take action to prevent catastrophic climate change.

Unfortunately the outcome of the Copenhagen climate talks was not great and it has resulted in a voluntary agreement instead of a compulsory one, this will make it difficult to get a fair legally-binding agreement in the future.  The next step is to try to get the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Miliband, to commit the UK to cut its emissions by at least 40% by 2020, put new money on the table for developing countries, and to negotiate with governments from developing countries on an equal basis.  You can send an email to Ed Miliband via the Friends of the Earth website, it is quick and easy to do, the more emails he gets the more likely he is to respond.

A BIG THANKS to everyone who took part in the Big Ask campaign, those who: sent postcards or wrote to their MPs, went to marches, got others to sign postcards, attended public meetings, took part in publicity stunts, went to lobby their MP in person, etc. etc.  Together WE DID IT!    For more details and what's happening next, please go to the Climate Change/Renewables page.
